Crystal Lake Trail
Located a few miles outside of Afton, Crystal Lake Trail is a dynamic but easy hike that is perfect for every level of hiker that wants to take in the stunning surroundings. The trail is less than a mile long and leads to a crystal-clear spring. During the warmer months of the year, feel free to take a dip in the lake, but be aware of the cold water. North Fork Strawberry Creek Trail
North of Afton is the North Fork Strawberry Creek Trail, a moderately challenging and rocky hike with views of trickling streams and sprawling forests. At around seven miles roundtrip, this is a great half-day hike. After conquering this steep trail, you’ll find the pristine Strawberry Lake, the perfect place for a midday swim. Continuing on, you’ll end your hike at the top of Visser Peak, where you’ll be able to look out over the majestic scenery below. Mount Wagner Trail
Looking for some sights that offer more of a challenge? Try the Mount Wagner Trail — a difficult, nine-mile hike that will have you venturing to the top of Mount Wagner which stands over 10,000 ft. above sea level. This is a challenging hike that isn’t recommended for children. Hiking this trail will bring you past wildflower meadows, a calm lake and the stark views of the neighboring peaks against the sky. Climbing to the top of the trail will give you an amazing vista of the valley below. The sweeping view is ideal for photos. Portions of this trail are very steep, prepare yourself by bringing trekking poles and lots of water for your trip.
